About your team

Japan Communications is part of a Global Communications team with team members based in markets across the world, including Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, UK, France, Ireland, and Germany. The team works closely together to support the firm’s corporate (external) and employee (internal) communication needs. Globally, the team is structured to support the two business lines: Investment Solutions & Services and Global Platform Solutions, as well as support strategic organisational priorities.

About your role
As an Associate Director within the Japan Communications team, your role will include a hybrid focus on both internal and external communications aimed at building Fidelity’s reputation in Japan and engaging colleagues in our strategy. With Japan being a key growth market for Fidelity, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities including:

  • Lead communications for the Office of the President, Japan, with both an internal and external focus.
  • Develop internal communications strategies to engage colleagues, support business priorities and develop a winning team.
  • Develop and deliver thought leadership and research campaigns with media, leveraging insights from Japan, the wider Asia region and the global thought leadership team.
  • Build and maintain media relations, particularly in relation to Japan-based international and English-language media, as well as plan and execute PR campaigns and media events.
  • Drive the media engagement for our Institutional business.
  • Actively engage and contribute to regional and global Communications projects and initiatives. 

About you

We are looking for a colleague who is proactive, curious, bold and brave to try new things and ideas, and can contribute to Fidelity International’s Global Communications agenda:

  • Bilingual in Japanese and English, Japanese native level proficiency is required.
  • Ability to manage and communicate across a range of stakeholder groups in a timely, professional manner, ability to work with a flexible mindset.
  • Extensive experience in PR, communications or media. Established media relationships, especially in financial services will be a bonus.
  • Proven employee communications experience and ability to deliver leadership communications.
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience and ability to work across cultures and geographies.
  • Digitally savvy with a high proficiency in social media and internal communications platforms.
  • A keen interest in markets and the economy - familiarity with asset management and finance will be a bonus.
