As an Assistant Manager of Private Client, you must coach, lead, engage and motivate a team of claim adjusters to ensure quality performance, development, policy adherence, cost containment, compliance to state regulations, and excellent customer service. This role may include management of adjusters handling private client policies, commercial losses and property damage litigation. Additionally, this role may handle complex files of their own or take over files to resolve.  This position requires review of Reservation of Rights and Coverage Denial letters. The leader in this position will flex to support other Assistant Managers as needed.

What you’ll do

  • Employee development and engagement
  • Performance management
  • Assist adjusters with daily questions, claim file management, client correspondence, and escalated calls
  • Drafts responses to Department of Insurance Complaints
  • Review complex coverage claims
  • Review and approves Reservation of Rights Letters
  • Review and approves Coverage denials
  • Review and approves Large Loss Reports
  • Monitor and adjust adjuster workloads
  • Perform file audits at check approval and phone observations as needed
  • Provide constant coaching via feedback and development opportunities
  • Complete performance reviews for adjusters
  • Review and approve reserve/payment requests over adjuster authority levels
  • Conduct staff meetings
  • Monitor and report out on team and department key performance metrics
  • Lead or assist with department initiatives and special projects
  • Interview, hire, and train new adjusters
  • Work autonomously & as a team
  • Determines settlement value and negotiates proper settlement of claims within authority.  Provides recommendations for settlement and disposition of claims exceeding authority level. 
  • Controls expenses and expense reserves on storage, towing, appraisals, vendors, or legal counsel
  • Handle presentations and interactions with other areas of the business, including Private Client, Underwriting, Commercial, Compliance and Legal
  • Effectively address escalations, complaints or questions involving all stakeholders while providing excellent customer service.

This Job Is Responsible for Producing the Following Results:

  • Maintaining stellar customer service tracked through NPS
  • Handling, or coaching others to handle, claims for multiple lines of the business including but not limited to, Classic Auto, Marine, and Specialty products
  • Meets or exceeds individual goals to help the department reach its targets
  • Making appropriate coverage and/or settlement decisions
  • Consistently produces quality work product
  • Completing thorough investigations to determine coverage, liability, and settlement
  • Analyzes facts to justify the assistance of SIU, O&C’s or legal counsel
  • Manages expenses
  • Pursues recovery as applicable
  • Fueling engagement within the team and department
