Guild is hiring a Applied Scientist Principal to drive the development and deployment of innovative AI solutions that power our mission. This role is a blend of deep technical expertise and strategic leadership, focused on advancing machine learning (ML) and generative AI (GenAI) to create meaningful business impact. You will play a pivotal role in shaping Guild’s AI strategy, tackling complex challenges, and ensuring our AI capabilities remain cutting-edge.
As an Applied Scientist Principal, you will:
- Lead the research, development, and deployment of scalable machine learning and generative AI models that drive business impact.
- Oversee high-impact AI and ML initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Act as a technical authority, providing expert guidance to applied science teams while collaborating with cross-functional partners in engineering, product, and data.
- Design and evolve Guild’s AI and applied science roadmap, identifying opportunities for innovation and operational efficiencies.
- Communicate complex AI and ML concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, securing buy-in and influencing strategic decisions.
- Lead research efforts on emerging AI tools and techniques, fostering a culture of continuous learning and experimentation.
- Partner with engineering teams to integrate AI solutions into production environments, ensuring seamless deployment and scalability.
- Expand and enhance Guild’s MLOps capabilities, ensuring robust AI lifecycle management and adherence to ethical and compliance standards.
You are a strong fit for this role if you have:
Required Competencies
- Deep expertise in machine learning and generative AI, with a proven track record of developing and deploying production-grade models.
- Strong programming and data science skills, including proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Experience with MLOps, including model lifecycle management, deployment pipelines, and monitoring.
- Prior experience in AI-driven personalization, recommendation systems, or large-scale NLP models.
- Experience leading AI research and development efforts, with an ability to translate findings into practical business applications.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to align AI initiatives with broader company objectives and deliver measurable results.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and data teams.
Preferred Competencies
- Familiarity with ethical AI principles and regulatory considerations in AI/ML development.
- Experience mentoring and guiding junior scientists, fostering technical growth and career development.
We are committed to equal pay for equal work and believe in compensation transparency. This role offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary of $180,600 - $264,900, and stock options. Compensation offered will be based on a combination of factors such as experience, competencies, and internal equity.
