Your Role at MediaLab
MediaLab Engineering supports a growing number of applications across multiple business verticals which have been acquired through a careful selection process to integrate with its internal Ad platform that processes billions of impressions a month.
As an Android Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of both WorldStar HipHop and Amino apps, two key brands of MediaLab.
WorldStar HipHop is the N°1 urban news platform in the US that offers a perfect mix of exclusive music videos, user footage, hilarious comedy, sports highlights, movie trailers, interviews, viral clips and more daily.
Amino is our social networking brand, is a platform designed for people to connect over shared interests. It allows users to join or create communities which are focused on specific topics, such as gaming, anime, music, movies, art, or general hobbies.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end development, testing, and maintenance of both WSHH and Amino Apps.
- Deliver reliable software thorough code reviews, and best-in-class engineering practices and robust testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, continuously optimizing performance and user experience.
- Document technical details and contribute to long-term application planning and future feature development.
- Collaborate with the team to produce high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Partner with team lead and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver features on time and to specification.
- Advocate for emerging technologies, modernize legacy code, and refine best practices and processes.
What We're Searching For
- Minimum 4+ years of native android development experience. Additional software development experience is preferred but not required
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred but not required
- Solid understanding Android tools (Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle)
- Good understanding of commonly used libraries (Jetpack, Compose, Retrofit, Firebase)
- Proficiency in Java and Kotlin
- Experience with CI/CD tools
- Self-motivated with strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Passionate about writing clean, well organized and production-ready code
- At least one application already built and in the Play Store
