Position Summary

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) System Administrator/ Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in company initiatives to solve scientific and administrative challenges using the latest AI tools. This role will design, develop, and deliver the AI infrastructure to support ImmunityBio research science projects and enhance business processes.  This position will apply expertise as a back-end AI/LLM software engineer to set up, configure and administer the relevant infrastructure as well as custom develop front end solutions.

Essential Functions

• Setup, configure, deploy and administer the AI/LLM infrastructure within a private cloud to support AI systems across the organization. 
• Develop and manage AI systems security and integrate new systems and tools into company-wide cyber security systems and controls .
• Research and implement the latest advancements in AI and machine learning frameworks.
• Design and develop AI systems building algorithms and machine learning models to solve specific challenges and enhance functionality.
• Develop and maintain pipelines for deploying AI models into production environments.
• Implement AI into existing software systems to enhance functionality and user experience.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and stakeholders to ensure AI solutions align with organizational goals and deliver real-world value.
• Investigate and apply AI technology to company business needs to drive systems innovation and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
• Optimize the performance of AI models and systems for scalability and real-time applications.
• Create prototypes to test AI applications and refine machine learning techniques.
• Troubleshoot and improve AI applications to resolve issues and optimize systems for better performance and user experience.
• Performs other special projects as requested.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in AI infrastructure development, application engineering, and machine learning techniques.
• At least 5 years of experience working with Python
• At least 5 years of experience with Web development (React, Typescript, SQL)
• Experience working with Large Language Models
• Prefer experience with AI development frameworks (Langchain, LlamaIndex, etc.)
• Prefer experience with AI agentic frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.)
• Relevant certifications in AI and machine learning are a strong plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Proficiency in GPU Cluster setup and administration, Machine Learning (ML) development and application engineering.
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities to work effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Working Environment / Physical Environment

• This position will either work in El Segundo, CA or remotely
• This position will work in an office environment and requires extensive use of computer keyboards and monitors. 

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$150,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $250,000 (highly experienced) annually
