Job Responsibilities and RequirementsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES*other duties as assigned*With limited supervision, this position includes a variety of diversified duties relating to the administration, payment and auditing of Agent Compensation. The compensation-related functions range from agency account set-up, monthly commission payments, agent incentive payments, audits, and compliance review.   In addition to supporting our entire agency and producer base, this position also supports the policy and premium teams through various duties.

  • Answers agent compensation inquiries and requests from agency base.
  • Responsible for changes to agent compensation including but not limited to broker of record changes and compensation rate changes.
  • Handles all agency updates, including, but not limited to, address, name, contact information and federal ID#
  • Oversees and handles all ACH invites, initial set ups and changes.
  • Responsible for the auditing and distribution of Form 5500 information to agents and policyholders.
  • Handles the review and posting to the system of incoming policyholder wire payment transactions, including posting of the resulting manual payments.
  • Oversees and handles the monthly commission, billing, cancellation and FICA processes, including the mailing of each.
  • Compiles detailed reports for internal premium auditing.
  • Works closely with and communicates with lock box and banking employees.   Troubleshoots items that need attention.
  • Monitors and addresses returned and uncashed commission and refund checks.
  • Works with premium team to clear suspense items.
  • Calculates policyholder refunds, as well as oversees the weekly refund batch process.
  • Handles all DCR’s for system data changes and handles assigning new employees to the DD and WCB systems.
  • Keeps management advised of potential problems
  • Reviews and interprets complicated agency compensation situations.
  • Maintains set goals and objectives.
  • All other duties, as assigned.
  • Special projects, as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES, AND/OR RELATED EXPERIENCE*or equivalent experience gained from any combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work and life experience*

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred or minimum of five years or related work experience.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all applicable SSL systems, including, but not limited to, PolicyNet and DocuWare.
  • Must work well in a team focused environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Strong organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of the DBL/PFL system, product billing and commission cycles
  • Strong interpersonal relationship, problem solving and customer service skills.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and reconcile commission issues and intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Ability to be well organized, accurate, detail oriented and effectively manage time required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products; proficient in Word and a basic knowledge of Excel required.
  • Professional business demeanor and the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial capacity with minimal supervision are required.
  • Must have a high degree of flexibility and a willingness to get involved and perform detailed and diversified duties when special situations arise (i.e., projects, coordinate activity for “special” policies, address Customer Service issues, etc…)
  • Must work well in a multi-task, team- focused environment.

The expected hiring range for this position is $29.38 - $36.73 hourly for work performed in the primary location (New York, NY). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
