This job performs various accounting activities in support of the Bank, Mutual Funds, Insurance, Tax, and Corporate Accounting; requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of accounting principles and practices. Performs a wide range of detailed accounting and advisory functions pertaining to assigned area, accounts or department and assures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives. Incumbents work independently and with peers and exercise professional judgment within assigned function.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and records journal entries for the financial transactions of the organization, maintains ledgers, prepares detailed accounting information, and monthly reconciliations. Prepares standard accounting spreadsheets, reports and statements.
- Audit, resolve, and approve the daily values or balances to ensure no discrepancies exist that would cause incorrect reporting. Exercise sound and professional judgement in the analysis of such discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing materials for internal and external auditors.
- Provides solutions to less difficult problems presented and recommends changes to accounting system, methods or procedures to management, utilizing knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Implements changes in procedures affecting assigned function and assists with various project assignments. Incumbents may be cross-trained in tax, mutual fund, corporate and financial reporting disciplines.
- Basic knowledge of functions supported within the department and business areas supported.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and related Microsoft office products

- Knowledge of accounting principles, or tax statutes and regulations theory and practices.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work with team to identify process improvements.
- Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
- Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $52,785.00 - $71,416.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
