Hybrid: - Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite three (3) days a week to the Oshawa office of General Motors of Canada Company.
The Accessories Product Manager plays a key role in a growing Accessories business that drives both Revenue & Profitability for GM Canada and its Dealers, while providing great customer experiences enabling them to personalize vehicles to their unique needs.
The Accessories Product Manager (APM) will create and own the Canadian go-to-market plans, including the development and execution strategies that drive revenue from GM Accessories Sales. The APM will need to liaise with both the US Accessory Team to integrate Canadian product requirements, and also work with the Canadian Marketing Teams to create limited production option packages (LPO) for vehicle ordering. This includes supporting Business Plan strategies and Execution, pricing and associated analysis for new accessories parts, working with Supply chain to make sure parts are set up correctly in our system and ensuring accessories are sufficiently supplied for Canadian needs and demands.
The APM will represent GM Canada at weekly Accessory Program Engineering Team (APET) meetings and other accessory meetings, will be responsible for Canadian forecasting and Initial Order Quantity (IOQ) requirements, and will ensure the Order Guide is written correctly and up to date when adding or removing LPOs. The APM will need to support the marketing teams for Auto shows, PR and corporate events to add accessories onto vehicles and support the field team and dealers regarding product related queries (i.e. product availability, timing, technical, and quality issues). Ultimately, the APM will be responsible for driving sales and marketing efforts including promotions and dealer sales initiatives for their accessories portfolio.
Other responsibilities include developing support materials, marketing collateral and delivering regular communications for accessory business processes. The APM will need strong interpersonal and negotiation skills and they will interface with various stakeholders including: Regional Management, District Managers, Dealers, Vehicle marketing, Finance, Supply chain, Engineering and outside third-party vendors.
Key Performance Metrics
- Achieve Financial Targets - Revenue, Contribution Margin, Per New Unit Revenue (PNUR)
- LPO readiness and status on track - Updating all new LPOs
- Inventory tracking (Min/Max banks), Supply chain issues (air/sea freight) with Suppliers and Integrated business partners (IBP)
- Advise on Contracts, Purchase Orders as required when expanding accessory product portfolio
- Liaise with Product and Technical assistance center to resolve Aftersales Dealer/Customer issues
- Execute successful on-time launches of Accessories.
- Track Accessories through the product development process, resolving product issues

Product Development Accessory Tracking
- Monitor, follow-up, and move accessories through development stages
- Identify & call out roadblocks with functional organizations and suppliers
- Escalate issues to leadership for resolution
- Communicate and network with Engineering to ensure product intent
- Follow accessory development activities with Design, Purchasing, and Supplier Quality
Accessory Launch Execution
- Work with cross functional teams to ensure flawless accessories launch
- Continue to drive Accessories through Launch Process - Product Readiness, develop IOQ's, Pricing, Catalog, Website, Divisional Communication, Packages & Promotions
Accessory Product Lifecycle
- Monitor Product lifecycle plans that refresh appearance in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of product portfolio
- Continue to monitor and update Accessory product information sites with correct naming, usage, and pricing
Field Support (Field, Marketing, Dealers)
- Communicate monthly field objectives and progress tracking to objectives
- Develop sell sheets
- Assist Dealers and District Managers on any accessory questions
- Help resolve any quality issues
- Help resolve any short shipment of parts
- Help resolve any backorder issues
- Create marketing material for dealers and DM
Pricing strategy
- Add Price files into spreadsheet for the pricing team to add to the Order Guide
- Work on prices for packages that help increase revenue
- Price Canadian Accessories in collaboration with Finance to meet financial guidelines and market dynamics
MSDOU tables
- Update the MSDOU tables to have parts released correctly
- Update the MSDOU tables when new parts are released
- Update the MSDOOU table some parts are no longer available
- Update MSDOU tables when they are rejected.
IBP partners
- Work on the contracts
- Make sure the parts are released to the warehouse correctly
- Make sure the parts meet our engineering requirements
- Work with supplier and dealer if there are any quality issues.
Other
- Develop proactive marketing /promotional strategies and programs.
- Monitor Updates of Accessible Accessories
- Review Accessory Reference Catalogue
- Collaborate with the Brand Team and Fleet Team to develop /include accessory sales strategies
- Develop sales contests to help keep Dealers and Field focused on growing Accessories
- Lead & Ideate promotions to increase accessories sales, penetrations, revenue
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or marketing
- 5 years of Product Accessories experience
- A passion for great customer experiences
- Demonstrated financial and marketing acumen.
- Ability to travel within Canada
