The Role
We are excited to offer an opportunity for talented students to join the internship program at Schonfeld. You’ll spend ten weeks within the P&L valuations team where you will be immersed in the culture and atmosphere of Schonfeld, working alongside talented professionals on high profile projects.
This team falls under our Accounting department and collaborates closely with groups across the firm including Business Analytics, Fund Accounting, Operations, Front Office and Technology teams. With focus on daily and monthly P&L reporting, P&L reconciliations & valuations for OTC Derivatives.
You may help with the following projects:
- Optimize and develop tools using VBA/Python to streamline workflows of P&L reporting and reconciliation
- Document detailed workflow to identify areas of improvement
- Specific projects assigned by P&L valuations team
What you’ll do
The intern will shadow various members from P&L Valuations team to understand current workflows and responsibilities of the team which include but are not limited to, daily and monthly performance reporting, daily P&L reconciliation between internal systems and our fund administrator. The main focus will be on identifying areas of improvement and automating current processes and tools using Excel/Python and VBA and increasing efficiency of the team. It will allow the candidate to focus on granular workflows & contribute to streamlining & improving them.
What you’ll need
- 2nd year student in an undergraduate university pursing a technical degree such as computer science
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, sumifs, index match, etc.)
- Strong VBA Knowledge. Python and SQL knowledge is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large sets of data
- Excellent communication skills; ability to articulate issues and solutions to different audiences
- Demonstrate sensitivity and judgement in handing confidential information
- Process and detail oriented with a strong work ethic and team focused attitude
- Able to adapt to frequent changes in the business operating environment
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- An analytical mindset and an ability to come up with solutions to problems you encounter
Our internship
The Schonfeld summer internship provides students with a unique opportunity to experience Schonfeld, our work, our people, and our culture.
Each summer intern will work on a tailored project that will provide them with real world experience. We provide all interns with a dedicated mentor and manager to help them navigate the summer successfully. Interns will also participate in our learning program, the Sapphire: Summer Session, which aims to provide tangible skills training and education on various functions across the firm and in the workplace. Along with the hands-on guidance and support from managers and mentors, interns will participate in weekly networking events, engage with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alliance, attend panel discussions, and have many opportunities to get to know Schonfeld’s core values in practice.

The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $45,000 and $52,000 which will be prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications and experience and level of education.
