Position Summary

 

The Operations Project Manager is responsible for establishing and leading projects within the Operations team such as product transfers between factories and product cost reduction. Additionally, this individual will draw upon their lean manufacturing background and prior process development experiences to optimize our processes and lead our transition to lean. OPMs will need to be persuasive, have exceptional communication skills, be strong in project planning, have a driving desire to get things done, and enjoy interactions with individuals throughout our organization. Success in this role will require the ability to build strong working relationships with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, Sales and PM/AE.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1) Work with the Operations Leadership Team to establish projects which support the growth of our business.

2) Conduct and drive strategic technical reviews on Projects around all Operations functions, including Make vs Buy, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service Support strategies.

3) Establish project plans, tasks, resources, and ownership to ensure timelines are met.

4) Manage internal and external projects which may extend to suppliers and contract manufacturers.

5) Coordinate internal and external resources for the planning and execution of projects.

6) Proactively work to remove project obstacles, identify and manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities.

7) Actively drive the enhancement of project management processes, tooling and templates to improve the project management function.

8) Provide timely status reports and program summaries including scope/schedule/quality risks, project status, resource allocation and customer impact.

9) Identify and manage costs associated with project budgets.

10) Assures customer delivery and quality is not impacted by project execution.

11) Interface with NPI team to establish project plans which will ensure a smooth introduction into manufacturing.

12) Review and optimize Manufacturing Processes which will range from product assembly to higher level transactional processes.

13) Create and document new processes as required, improve existing processes, as well as roll out new/changed processes to impacted teams/departments.

14) Partner with Manufacturing team and transition manufacturing to Lean.

Qualifications - Knowledge & Experience

1) 2+ years’ experience directly managing projects.

2) Experience of applying change, risk, and schedule management processes.

3) Appreciation and understanding of the critical business functions and their contribution to NPI including Engineering, Commercial, Manufacturing, PM/AE and Operations functions.

4) Strong understanding of a typical product development project lifecycle.

5) Experience making quick decisions based on data and assessments of risk.

6) Competent in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Teams.

7) Familiarity with ERP/MRP.

8) Proven track record of accountability and ethics.

9) English required.

 

Education, Licenses & Certification

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline.

 

Work Conditions

1) 48-hours per week.

2) Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.

3) Sitting for extended periods of time; Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, etc.

Travel domestic or international as needed.
